Focus on Student and Classrooms.
District resources should be focused on students; classrooms needs and those that most closely support and enhance the learning environment.
Discuss issues, not personalities.
Board members should collaboratively and collegially with each other and Superintendent. Doing so allows for better interaction with all stakeholders and provides positive role models for our students.
Build a successful school system for every child.
Excellence, effectiveness and equity: using these principles we can build a school stem with will provide every child n PUSD a positive educations experience. School configurations, magnets and charter schools, teacher retention, open enrollment and the technical needs of the learning environment must be reviewed as part of long-range plan for a successful system.
Lead PUSD in effective self-assessment and evaluation.
We must insist on best practices in our classrooms, at our schools and in our administrative offices. To implement best practices, administrative staff must produced sound budgets, assessment, and evaluations using accurate and detailed data. Consultants and grant-funded programs should be assessed regularly to clarify their value to the educational environment.
Strengthen communication between the PUSD and its communities.
In speaking with the various communities PUSD serves, there are common concerns
expressed in each group whether based on geography or or other focus. We must work to improve how PUSD listens to its various and distinct constituents and begin a true communication model.
